Saudi Arabia's Music Commission continues to present "The Marvels of Saudi Orchestra" around the world, a cultural masterpiece that aims to showcase Saudi musical creativity on the international stage and foster global cultural dialogue. Following the resounding success of previous shows in Paris, Mexico City, New York, and London, the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir will soon arrive in Tokyo, the first Asian stop on its world tour.
This 22 November, the Opera City in Tokyo concert hall will host this extraordinary cultural exchange, which will feature a unique blend of Saudi and Japanese music. In the same spirit as previous “Marvels of Saudi Orchestra” concerts, the Saudi Orchestra and Choir will take the stage alongside the Tokyo College of Music Orchestra Academy, in addition to a performance of Japanese classical dance Gagaku, with a special appearance by famous Japanese rock star and guitarist Hotei. The evening will feature several acts that will be performed by more than 150 musicians in total, including 50 musicians from the Tokyo College of Music Orchestra Academy, alongside 100 musicians from the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir.
Under the patronage of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Music Commission, Prince Badr, and Music Commission CEO Paul Pacifico, the Saudi National Orchestra will perform traditional music directed by Saudi maestro Reaab Ahmed. The pieces are arranged and composed by maestro Rami Bashih, with support from Japanese composer and conductor Hirofumi Yoshida, who also helped secure the participation of the Japanese performers.
The “Marvels of Saudi Orchestra” series not only underscores the Kingdom's commitment to supporting art and music as part of Saudi Vision 2030, but also reaffirms that music is a universal language capable of uniting cultures and promoting understanding between peoples. Through these enchanting performances, the Saudi Music Commission continues to introduce the world to Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage and musical diversity, paving the way for future generations to keep celebrating this rich cultural legacy.
In late September, the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir performed in London’s Central Hall Westminster to an audience of prominent figures and music aficionados, blending authentic Saudi sounds with international classical music. Highlights of the evening included an homage to the late Saudi poet Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen, medleys by famed Saudi musicians like Mohammed Abdo and Rashed Al Majed, and a unique Saudi rendition of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” The upcoming Tokyo performance promises a unique celebration of musical creativity and a rare cultural junction of Saudi music and the sounds of Japan.
The “Marvels of Saudi Orchestra” is set to bring this unique celebration of Saudi and international music to other cities across Asia and Europe in the future, strengthening Saudi Arabia’s cultural presence on the global stage and deepening artistic ties between the Kingdom and the rest of the world.
